Friday Follow-up! [Summer Writing Schedule]

I'm switching things up a bit today. As you've probably noticed, my blog has been quiet the last two weeks. There is a good reason for this...really, I promise!

Revision Hell has sucked me into its never-ending black hole.

Note: Not me, but this is what I feel like sometimes!

With Revision Hell comes hours...no, make that DAYS, of procrastination.

Note: Again, not me...but you get the picture!

To motivate myself, I've started a new summer writing schedule.  Since school is out, I don't have to get my little one ready in the morning or drop her off for carpool...so, that gives me an extra 30 minutes before work.  I also decided to get up an hour earlier.

Here's the new schedule:

Monday through Friday
5:00am - 6:15am    Editing
7:00pm - 8:30pm   Editing / Writing

Weekends
6 hours of editing / writing total (weekends are super busy!)

After Day #2 of my new schedule, I'm averaging 8 pages of edits each morning and 3 pages in the evening (I'm a morning person, what can I say?). Which is a huge improvement over 2-3 pages a day. I have 87 pages left to edit, this go-around.

I am barreling toward the finish line.

Note: Definitely not me or my computer!

  1. Hi Christy, you and me both. I'm on chapter 31 out of 42 + an Epilogue. Revision and editing consumes me. I line up all my crits together and refer to them line by line. I can usually do one chapter a day, but on Memorial Day I finished 4 chapters. When do you plan on finishing this revision?

  2. Hey Rachelle! I'm moving along with under 90 pages left to edit. With the help of your critiques, I'm rewriting most of the last 100 pages...plus I added two new subplots to strengthen my characters motivations. I should be done within two weeks. Fingers crossed!
